Background

LFV is the Swedish state enterprise operating air navigation services for civil and military customers. Until now, LVF has been buying WAN and LAN services from its sister company Swedavia, but when the contract expired LFV chose to terminate this deal. Instead LVF subordered the net services through a general procurement contract called Kammarkollegieavtalet.

Scope

The scope of the LFV ATN project is to implement a new WAN, an operative LAN and an administrative LAN, Internet access and security services for LFV.

The assignment

ClearPoint’s assignment is project management for:

  • Implementation of a WAN and an administrative LAN from Telia, as well as Internet and the security services.
  • Development and implementation of processes for error reporting, ordering, change and cancellation, and incident management.
  • Participation in developing a test plan and LFV specific test cases.
  • Producing migration methodology and a basis for the migration of administrative clients and systems, as well as of Internet and security services.

Result

All staffed LFV sites are now connected to LFV’s new WAN and security services.

Challenges & dependencies

To maintain flight safety, air navigation services are subject to a rigorous regulatory framework. There are strict security regulations concerning the migration of systems and clients to new networks. The number of systems and clients is extensive, and the dependencies between systems are complex, which places great demands on investigations and preparation before migrating to the new network.
